This art installation, “Migrants, Picnic Across the Border,” portraying the eyes of a Dreamer across both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border is a piece by French street artist, JR, who called it a “giant picnic” (Shah, 2017). The installation consisted of an event where people on both sides of the border were able to eat the same food at the same table. The piece is a reference to those impacted by the Obama-era executive order, Deferred Action of Childhood Arrivals (DACA), who are often referred to as Dreamers. In terms of temporal borders, this piece helps show how borders are created over time, both dividing families and creating mixed legal statuses across families.
