SoiferI VtP Annotation: Soap foam

A photo taken by one of the residents of Bar Elias, with the support of the ethnographer (would be interested to know more about this connection to the project listed from 2019). The fact that the photo was taken by a resident is notable because it potentially indicates something that is important to the person who took it. The image is primarily focused on the water itself as opposed to incorporating more of the surrounding area, such as the edge where young people hang out. The image is very uniform throughout, primarily a white foaminess that indicates both a sort of invisibility to the unobservant eye while also an alarm once one notices just how uniform the water's foam is, indicating something potentially unnatural about the state of the water. It is both understated but also alarming.
